Bus Maintenance Facility Renovation for ABC Companies
CGRS’s Alternative Fuels team recently completed the full-scale renovation of a bus maintenance facility near Denver International Airport (DIA), designed to enhance support for its compressed natural gas (CNG) transit fleet. The project prioritized operational efficiency and safety, featuring the installation of a methane detection system integrated with building controls like HVAC and exhaust fans.

Key upgrades include:
- New bay doors for transit bus clearance and concrete ramps for improved access and drainage.
- Lube oil & compressed air systems with hose reels and service drops for streamlined maintenance. With hose reels and service drops connected to bulk storage and compressors for seamless operations.
- ADA-compliant locker rooms and restrooms for mechanics.
- Energy-efficient HVAC system upgrades with energy-efficient rooftop units to support newly renovated areas.
- Dedicated storage for hazardous materials, such as oils and cleaning chemicals, were built to meet safety standards.
- Electrical upgrades for reliable power to all new equipment, compliant with codes for hazardous areas
The renovation also involved structural modifications, minor demolition, concrete work, and painting to create a cohesive workspace. All systems were tested, inspected, and documented, ensuring long-term reliability. This project was carefully phased to minimize disruptions to ongoing transit operations, delivering a safer, more efficient facility for ABC Companies.
