About Meter Calibration
Since the early 1900’s, dispensing meters have been calibrated using volumetric proving technology — a five gallon, open-neck prover. This technology has been effective for many years. [Insert metercal 1 jpg]
But with substantial increases in the volume of retail fuel sales, the need for accurate calibration has become more critical than ever. Electronic Proving Technology from MeterCal is the modern and innovative solution to these challenges.

CGRS Meter Calibration – Introducing MeterCal
- Closed system which prevents vapor loss during calibration.
- Real time flow rate, gross volume and temperature are monitored during the run
- Fast and/or slow runs can easily be done with any gross volume well in excess of 5 gallons.
- Product density is monitored continually. If vapor, water or another foreign substance is present it is immediately detected and an error message will occur and the run will be terminated.
Measurement repeatability is between 0.02% and 0.03% of volume measured or about 1/20th of the required calibration differential standard of 0.5%.
- Safety – closed system minimizes exposure to vapors.
- Accountability – the inspection and calibration results are automatically recorded and documented to ensure that the technician has met and/or exceeded the required standards.
The MeterCal system uses an extremely high quality, linearized Master Meter. The advantages to this technology are:
