The CGRS Environmental Services Department performs investigative and remedial services, from completion of Phase I assessments and subsurface investigations to soil and groundwater remediation and assistance with the reimbursement process. CGRS also provides complete turnkey support on every project. Our dedicated staff of highly experienced geologists and hydrogeologists applies their knowledge and expertise to cost-effectively investigate, define, limit and/or eliminate your environmental risks and liabilities.

CGRS specializes in petroleum pipeline facilities, pipeline right of ways, gas processing plants, production facilities, industrial UST sites, and retail UST sites. Services performed by our Environmental Department include:
  • Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments: To perform due diligence environmental site assessments at developed and undeveloped, industrial, commercial, and agricultural properties.
  • Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plan Development and Revisions: Capable of developing a new plan, required revisions for an existing SPCC plan more than 5 years old, or if there have been recent modifications to the facility. All plans are certified by a licensed professional engineer knowledgeable of the SPCC requirements.
  • Emergency Response and Initial Abatement Services: CGRS can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and has the resources necessary to perform a proper and immediate response.
  • Subsurface Investigations: Conducted to establish soil and groundwater conditions. May be used to delineate the extent of petroleum contamination.
  • AST and UST Tank Removal and/or Closure
  • Site Characterization Reports (SCR): Determines the source and extent of petroleum contamination, identifies the threat to human health and the environment, and evaluates various cleanup strategies for the site.
  • Corrective Action Plan (CAP) Development and Implementation: After the extent of the problem has been defined, this plan delineates the action to be taken to correct the problem.
  • Remediation System Design, Installation, Operation and Maintenance: May employ a variety of remedial methods for removal of hydrocarbons from soil and groundwater, including:

    • Groundwater Pump and Treat Systems
    • Vacuum-enhanced groundwater pump and treat systems
    • Soil vapor extraction (SVE) and air sparge (AS) systems
    • Bioremediation technologies
    • Chemical oxidation
    • Thermal destruction
    • Landfarming
    • Excavation, disposal and/or treatment

  • Risk-based Assessment, Reporting and Closure: Determines whether a site is eligible for site-specific cleanup standards, independent of those set by the state, which may result in significantly lower remediation costs.
  • State Fund Reimbursement Assistance: Assistance to parties eligible for reimbursement from the State Fund to recover allowable costs incurred in cleaning up petroleum contamination from underground and aboveground petroleum storage tanks.
  • Chemical Oxidation Remediation: Used alone or in conjunction with other treatments, this technology considerably cuts remediation time and cost.
  • Coal Combustion By-products Consulting
  • Air Permitting
  • NPDES Permitting
  • Analytical/Numerical Groundwater Modeling
  • Exsitu/Insitu Metals Remediation
  • RCRA Facility Investigations
  • Vacuum Trailer: This equipment is designed to perform tank cleaning, enhanced fluid recovery (EFR), dewatering for tank or utility excavations, spill recovery, and water treatment.
